Physical Activities to Curb Anxiety

Everyone of us at one time or another have faced worries and anxiety in many areas of our lives and this is because as responsible being we are made to analyze and to either avoid of solve these anticipated threats. If you are constantly worried or anxious about something it can become a chronic condition that you definitely need to deal with. A person who has chronic anxiety will make him unable to think straight and make him become lethargic and he has this feeling of exhaustion or unhealthy stress. Though a person can still typically go about its daily routine, but the chore becomes heavier than when it does not have that alarming condition. IN a state of anxiety one can sometimes feel that he is breathing heavily within.

It has been proven by studies that doing physical activity is one way to help curb anxiety and improve the mood of a person. Physical activity makes a person feel better and eases symptoms of anxiety and depression. However, it takes efforts on the person who is suffering from anxiety to do these physical activities because this is the last thing that an anxious person would ever want to do.

Regular exercise is enough to remedy one’s anxiety; it does not need to be heavy workout or some other rhythmic exercises, in order to help relieve the pent-up condition on the spot.

Exercise regularly done is something that would benefit a person psychologically and emotionally.

One of the g great benefits of regularly exercising and meeting your personal goals and challenges is the boosting of one’s confidence. One other benefit of regular exercise is to prevent the person from dwelling on thoughts that can cause the anxiety to begin since there is a need to focus the attention on the physical task that one is doing.

Taking anti-depressants like alcohol or drugs is not going to help since the mind is not kept away from anxious thoughts by these things. Instead, allowing the person to dwell on them more exhaustively, and thus worsening their condition further.

Lastly, doing something positive to manage anxiety or depression by doing a physical activity or exercising does not necessary mean going into a rigid workout. In fact, some research shows that ‘physical activity’ such as regular walking or one that does not involve a formal program – may largely improve a person’s mood. What I am trying to say is that physical activity and exercise are not the same thing. Physical activity can curb anxiety but it will depend on the person himself what this physical activity will consist of to help him rid of his anxious thought. Whatever it is, it has to be a physical activity and it will also help you maintain your physical fitness.
